![]() The third is inheritance: version 0.31.1 introduced genetics, allowing creatures to inherit part of their size from the appearance, specifically the height and girth, of their parents.Īctual creature sizes go from 1 (small insect vermin) to 200,000,000 ( giant sperm whales, the largest creature in the game). The second is the age of the creature: most creatures are not born anywhere near their maximum size, and instead must grow into it some, like most species of snake, grow throughout their entire lifetime, and probably will not live long enough to reach it. First and most basic is the average maintained across an individual species of creature. The actual size of a creature is the result of three different effects, one basic and two that are highly variable. On creatures, size also directly determines what kind of equipment a creature can wear: large, small, normal, or none at all. Bodysize also determines average butchering yields, (along with morphology) how much damage they can absorb, and (along with morphology and attack definition tokens) how much damage they can inflict in melee. However, in the infinite complexity of Dwarf Fortress, there are a number of other materials animals internalize ( ivory, hair, horn, shell, etc.) which have their own densities, shifting a creature's actual weight relative to its size, sometimes significantly (elephant tusks weigh a lot). ![]() When it comes to creatures, size is a rough stand-in for weight: standard flesh weighs one gram per cubic centimeter. Changing this value too much can lead to fun.Ĭreature-specific size is known internally as bodysize (from the token). Through weight, the size of an item has a large number of further ramifications in the game, such as carry time, pressure plate activation, impact momentum, weight restrictions, and so forth. Size directly affects such things as which weapons your dwarves can equip, butchering returns, and combat effectiveness, both for creatures ( elephants are very hard to kill because there's so much tissue to them, but they have a surprisingly hard time landing a hit on, say, cavys) and for weapons. It doesn't help that a thirty-five to forty foot bronze colossus fits in a basic wooden cage (although, a fire man fits in it too). This is mostly because when even dragons occupy a single square, size becomes a little difficult to contextualize. Size has a large number of important ramifications on the game, many of them through its effect on overall weight, but as material properties go, its implementation in the game is somewhat underwhelming - witness the incredible compression of matter, space, and time that is the garbage dump. Size, along with the underlying material's density, is used to calculate an item's weight: It is essentially volume, but is called size in creature raw files, and is so translated to item definitions as well. Size is a measure of how big a creature or item is, measured in cubic centimeters. Or more likely, the list of creatures by size. You may be looking for size of clothing, armor, the dimensions of a tile.

![]() With eight directors, this should've been much better. The sex scene in particular is so drawn out and the absolutely RIDICULOUS conversation afterwards make me CRINGE! Lastly, eight directors. The writing has so clinical and boringly descriptive. How could someone make something sound so bizarre? The script is the foundation of the movie and if the script is bad, the acting and direction will follow. I've mentioned the writing a few times, but there's more I have to say. Because the script is so bad that the no A List star could make it sound good. The acting, I'm sure the actors aren't one hundred percent to blame for it, but Jesus it's so unnatural. The pacing and editing is so off, it cut between scenes in such a strange way, and not like A Ghost Story or a Nolan film, there was no flow between scenes (except maybe a few) and it's really jarring. The cinematography is decent enough I guess, but oh my God is the acting and writing something else. There are so many talented writers, directors, cinematographers, sound editors, lighting directors, actors, costume designers, set decorators Why not hire them? If anyone involved in the decision making for this film ran it by a friend, it would have been heavily edited and exponentially improved. Children would consider his scars a bad boo boo. Later he's struggling with his disfigurement. He's then seen being dragged (not carried) into the cottage by two soldiers who then walk out of the cottage, stop and glare into the darkness (for no reason) then walk away. The owner explains (for no reason) that the cottage was moved from Europe- taken apart in sections, shipped, reassembled. The neighbor gushes over how handsome the man is. An engaged couple arrives to view the cottage. The neighbor/nurse watches him die - makes no attempt to resume CPR. The wife embraces him and he dies in her arms. Then the husband can't breathe so the wife calls the awkward neighbor who gives him CPR until they both spew water like a drowning rescue. For instance, the movie opens with laborious exposition from the owners of the cottage about an awkward neighbor who can't get a boyfriend. The writing would be mocked by moderately capable tweens. If there was a lighting director, the position was part-time. I can only assume that whomever green- lit this movie a) was trying to end a hostage situation, b) was determined not to use anyone who might upstage Richard Hatch, and c) was Richard Hatch. Some people use their wealth to enhance life on the planet. ![]() There is a bit of a twist even later, but it was a slow journey getting there, even in a 90 minute movie. ![]() One minute they said one thing and the next minute the results were the opposite. You'll know what I mean if you watch that far. There is an absolutely incomprehensible segue later in the movie. And I'm betting that this is based on a short story because there are a lot of visuals and scenes that are obviously crammed in to fill time. The setup doesn't ring true as events leading up to Oliver actually coming to the cottage just don't make sense. Production is poor, especially the sound. The direction is poor in this scene because it took me three takes to realize when Oliver was showing his body scars. I do have to hand it to her that she did a good job of keeping a straight face, but not quite, when she sees his facial scars. Sandra Rice is also stiff delivering lines. Later when circumstances and conversation is more normal, Masterson does better capturing that. He also doesn't physically show any of the emotion that his words convey. This is true even in his physical therapy. Even well after that, he just moves like someone who is perfectly healthy. He appears normal, but nonchalant about what he is about to attempt. Masterson doesn't act at all like someone that the others were just so worried about surviving. When Oliver first wakes up after his injuries, Paul D. ![]() She's obviously trying, but it just doesn't come naturally to her. Sarah Navratil's acting is forced and stiff. Could Laura's appearance early in the film be any more geeky and plain Jane? Obviously there is some beauty in there, but they go overboard in trying to mask it. At one point he reacts strongly to his wife's statement before she has said the words that cause the reaction. Sam Nisbett as Tom is bad just talking to his wife and again when he dies. I was hoping the opening scene was not an indication of what we would see when we got to the main characters. This pedal works as described and is in good condition, showing only light wear that can be seen in photos, as well as velcro having been applied to the bottom. This pedal is 100% analog, true bypass and built entirely by hand in beachy Akron, Ohio. When in “Vibrato” mode, the dry signal is removed and the Depth controls acts as a volume control. You can also use the Grand Orbiter as a true pitch vibrato with the “Phase/Vibrato” switch. The Resonance provides a wide range of control over regeneration and at higher settings adds a more pronounced and resonant tone. ![]() The Sweep control governs the peak frequency of the phased signal’s tone, turned full clockwise the sweep is lively and intense, whereas turning counter clockwise yields a darker, more laid back peak. The Depth control blends the shifted signal in with the dry signal and controls the intensity of the effect. The master Rate control fine tunes the speed of the LFO in each of these modes and the flashing red LED acts as a visual indicator, even when the effect is in bypass mode. It has three way toggle switch to select between the ranges of modulation. Grand Orbiter is a 4 stage OTA-based phaser with a diverse feature set that can go from stationary and resonant to slow and mellow and on through fast and swirly.
